What Really Matters: "If the World Were Blind ..." by Karen Gedig Burnett.

Updated: Mar 6, 2021

This book is a wonderful way to start or even continue conversations with your children about judgment and prejudice. I know because I read this book to my daughter many times when she was growing up and had good conversations with her about the mini-conversations in the book. This book was how to be respectful to others (and what isn't respectful).

The book contains positive statements - what you can say to be kind and helpful - and negative statements - words people say that are hurtful. There were so many different scenarios that would help people see themselves or potentially see themselves in those situations.

An important note - this book focuses on not judging people by how they appear on the outside and take the time to get to know people. As the author says, "Let's all be part of the solution."
